Plastic welding rods PA/ABS - Polyamide/Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
PA/ABS combines the good properties of PA with excellent strength and toughness and of ABS with high surface hardness, impact resistance and good oil resistance. With the PA/ABS blend, the disadvantageous properties of PA, such as shrinkage and insufficient cold impact strength, are reduced. This plastic mixture has a high-quality, matt surface appearance and good acoustic damping behavior. This mixture is used, for example, in vehicle construction, especially in the interior for instruments, loudspeaker grilles and cladding.
Polyamides (PA) are thermoplastics, the monomers of which are derived from aliphatic bases, while acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) is a synthetic terpolymer. PA/ABS can be processed with all of the usual methods for thermoplastics, such as welding, extrusion and injection molding. The melting point of PA/ABS is approx. 240°C to 260°C, the long-term use temperature is -20°C to 130°C.
