Plastic welding rods PPE-PA - Polyphenylene ether / Polyamide
PPE-PA combines the properties of high-temperature resistance of polyphenylene ether with the good properties of the polyamide, namely, the impact strength and resistance to aging. This mixture is used, e.g. in molded parts in electronics, household and automotive.
Polyphenylene ether / polyamide (PPE-PA), is a mixture (blend) of thermoplastic plastics. Polyphenylene ether is also referred to as polyether, formerly also as polyphenylene oxide (PPO). In pure form, PPE is rarely used. It is mainly used as a blend with polystyrene (PS) or polyamide (PA). By adding PS or PA, the high-performance plastic PPE can be processed better and retains its impact strength and temperature stability permanently. The PPE blends are hot water resistant, have low water absorption, high impact strength and low density. The surface can be printed, varnished or metallised. They are also used in medical instruments made of plastic, which often need to be sterilized. The most important fields of application for PPE-PA are electronics, medical technology and the automotive industry. PPE-PA is resistant to hot water, weak mineral acids, weak organic acids, alkalis and alcohols. The melting point of PPE-PA is approx. 220°C, the continuous use temperature is -50°C to + 105°C.
