Plastic welding rods POM - Polyoxymethylene
POM has high strength, stiffness and hardness. POM maintains these properties over a wide temperature range. Further, polyoxymethylene has high abrasion resistance and good sliding property. It can replace metals in many cases. POM is used in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and vehicle construction.
Polyoxymethylene (POM), also polyacetal, polyformaldehyde or merely acetal, is a high-molecular thermoplastic. The good properties of POM maintains it over a wide temperature range. Due to wear resistance, abrasion resistance and high heat resistance, POM can replace metal in many cases. Polyoxymethylene is resistant to weak mineral acids, hydrocarbons, gasoline, alkalis, alcohol and many oils and fats. It can be used with all processes customary in thermoplastics, such as welding, extrusion and injection molding. Gluing is only conditionally possible with special surface treatment. The melting point of POM is about 165°C to 180°C, the continuous use temperature is -50°C to 130°C.
