Plastic welding rods ABS/PC - Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene / Polycarbonate
ABS/PC, also ABS+PC, has a high surface hardness, impact resistance and good oil resistance. Examples for the use of ABS/PC are motorcycle and vehicle parts such as trim, bumpers, cockpit and covers, electronic parts, musical instruments and consumer goods with increased demands on impact resistance.
Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene / polycarbonate (ABS/PC) is a mixture of thermoplastic plastics. ABS consists of the three monomers acrylonitrile, 1,3-butadiene and styrene, PC from bisphenol A. ABS/PC is dimensionally stable and can be sawn, drilled and cut. Due to the added PC to ABS, the plastic is dimensionally stable, impact-resistant and scratch-resistant. ABS/PC can be thermoformed. Due to the hygroscopic properties (water absorption up to 1.5%), adequate drying should be ensured in advance. ABS/PC should not be inhaled directly in case of fire, since the contained bisphenol A in the PC is suspected to be very harmful to health. The melting point of ABS/PC is approx. 220°C to 250°C, the continuous use temperature is max. 80 to 100°C.
