Plastic welding rods PA - Polyamide
PA is a thermoplastic with excellent strength and toughness, as well as high wear resistance and good sliding properties. Polyamide is available in various designs, with PA6 and PA6.6 being the most common. PA is used for household items and technical parts, which must have a high abrasion resistance, as well as in mechanical engineering and vehicle construction.
Polyamides (PA) are thermoplastics whose monomers are derived from aliphatic basic bodies. The two most frequently used polyamides are PA 6 and PA 6.6, the manufacturing process of which is fundamentally different. Polyamide 6 is formed by ring-opening polymerization. Polyamide 6.6 is formed by polycondensation with elimination of water. PA6 and PA6.6 can be welded together. Due to its resistance to lubricants and fuels at higher temperatures, PA is also often used for attachments to engines such as intake and fuel systems, covers and linings. Polyamides can be processed with all processes customary for thermoplastics, such as, for example, welding, extrusion and injection molding. The melting point of PA is about 220°C to 260°C (especially for PA6 at approx. 220°C and for PA6.6 at 260°C), the continuous use temperature is -40°C to 100°C.
