ABS
Plastic welding rods and plastic welding wire - ABS
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is a synthetic terpolymer. It consists of the three monomers acrylonitrile, 1,3-butadiene and styrene. ABS is dimensionally stable and is easy to saw, drill and cut. Also, coating with metals and polymers is possible (e.g., chrome surfaces). ABS can be deep-drawn very well, whereby due to its hygroscopic properties (water absorption up to 1.5%) attention should first be paid to sufficient drying. The melting point of ABS is approx. 230°C to 250°C, the continuous operating temperature at max. 85°C to 100°C.
